James Rutherford

Non-Executive Director

James Rutherford has over 25 years’ experience in investment management and investment banking, specializing in the global mining and metals sector.

James has extensive board experience in global mining companies, currently serving as Chairman of UK-listed gold producer Centamin plc, whose main operations are based in North Africa. James has also previously served as a non-executive director of Anglo American plc from 2013 to 2020 and as senior non-executive director of GT Gold Corp from 2019 to 2021 when it was taken over by Newmont Corporation.

For over 16 years, from 1997 to 2013, James was Senior Vice President with Capital Group, a major US investment management firm, where he was responsible for leading worldwide investments in the mining and metals sector.

Prior to that he was Vice President, Equity Research for HSBC James Capel in New York, covering the Latin American mining and metals industry. He has also held analyst roles at Credit Lyonnais and CRU International.

James holds a BSc in Economics & Computer Science from Queen’s University Belfast and an MA in Development Economics, University of Sussex. He is also an alumnus of the London Business School.
